What kind of file formats does VistaPrint support for uploads?
Last updated 16 June 2026.
We support common file types like PDF, AI, PSD, BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIF and HEIC. The formats you can upload depend on the product and how you’re designing it.

File formats for most print products

For the best print quality and editing flexibility, we recommend using:

  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai, .ait)

  • PDF (.pdf)

  • Adobe Photoshop (.psd)

You can also upload other file types, though they may offer more limited editing options:

  • Images: Bitmap (.bmp), GIF (.gif), JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG (.png), TIFF (.tif, .tiff), HEIC (.heic)

  • Documents: PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)

File formats for calendars and photo books edited online

If you're editing wall calendars, desk calendars and photo books, we recommend:

  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg) for smooth, crisp results.

Other supported formats include:

  • PNG (.png)

  • HEIC (.heic), supported only in Safari on mobile or desktop

File formats for the offline photo book editor

If you’re using the offline desktop photo book editor (Mac or Windows), you can upload:

  • Images: Bitmap (.bmp), GIF (.gif), JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG (.png), TIFF (.tif, .tiff), HEIC (.heic)

  • Special formats: Windows Metafile (.wmf) on Windows, and RAW (.raw) on Mac
