Why does my design look blurry or pixelated?

Low-resolution or enlarged images can reduce print quality. Use high-quality images and check for resolution warnings in the design studio.

Common causes

The image is too small: Images found online are often saved at a small size to help pages load faster. For a sharp print, it’s best to use original files that have a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch).
The image was stretched: Every image has a limit to how large it can get before it starts to look blurry. If you enlarge a small image to fit a big product, it will lose its sharpness. When you enlarge an image, check the design studio for any warning icons.
The file type is compressed: Some files formats reduce quality to save space, which can take away detail. Using high-quality formats like PDF, AI, TIFF or JPEG helps keep everything clear.

Check your design before ordering

Before you place your order, download a PDF proof of your design. This file is the most accurate way to check the quality of the design. If your design is pixelated on the PDF, it will likely stay that way when it’s printed.

Why aren't my photobook images saved in my uploads?
